When Apple launched its flagship phone in 2015, it came up with World Gallery of Apple Advertisement Campaign, Shot on iPhone 6. A gallery of photos pre-selected from iPhone 6 users from around the globe. Filipino Instagrammer, Francis Olarte is a Singapore-based property manager and his shot of the fishermen in Inle Lake, Myanmar was among those selected. Not just as part of the gallery but it was flashing on billboards from the major cities around the world.

Singapore is among the few countries that Apple first launch their products and Francis being an avid fan of Apple got his iPhone 6 since the launch. He also owns a DLSR but he also loves doing iPhone photography. It’s convenient, you can easily take a shot, edit and post it online in an instant, according to Francis. You don’t need a bulky camera every time you need to take a good photo.
In his TV interview with ANC Alerts (watch the full interview here), Francis revealed that the power of hashtag #iPhone6 opened this opportunity of a lifetime for him. He was contacted anonymously by a company through email that they would like his photo to be part of the campaign. Later on he realized when more details came in that he’s actually working with Apple!
Here are some of the photos of his work that were popping in the major cities around the world:
Francis’ good fortune with Shot on iPhone 6 campaign didn’t end with his Myanmar photo because his panoramic shot of Santorini, Greece was also used for the campaign. It was flashing around Toronto, Los Angeles, Jakarta, Hong Kong and other major cities around the world.
As a Filipino Instagramer myself, I’m proud of this achievement by Francis, he also dedicated his success to all Filipino Instragrammers world wide.
